In the "Həkim İşi" program, we discussed the determination of liver fibrosis and the effectiveness of treatment. Liver fibrosis is measured in kilopascals and, starting from 10.4, is divided into four stages.
The physician's work and the treatment effect
In our practice, we had a patient at the 4th stage of fibrosis. After one year of treatment, the patient's fibrosis regressed to the 2nd stage, and in some segments down to the 3rd stage. This is a remarkably good effect. Since we did not find a suspicious area in that patient, there was no need to perform a biopsy.
High informativeness of elastography
The elastography method is highly informative in determining liver fibrosis. The information this method provides about fibrosis can be trusted by 97%. It is not strictly necessary to have hepatitis for this; even in the presence of fatty liver disease, anyone can undergo an elastography examination to determine its degree.
